My mom is having surgery on Thursday. So she had to go to the hospital today to talk to a nurse and everything. I am really nervous about her surgery. I hope it goes well! But anyhoo I was babysitting my brothers while my mom was at the hospital and my dad was at work. I am also alone now because my dad is still working and my mom and brothers are going to a meeting. But I've got my dog and cats - and I get to watch a movie, so it won't be that bad.

We went to Concord because my mom had a doctor's appointment. As you can tell from my AudBlog post I just did today, I did a little shopping. And I'd appreciate if y'all would post some comments on my blog. It would add a special something to my life.

August 29
We had church - of course. No wedding or baptism or anything, just good ole' church.
I played a lot after church with my friend's little sister, and my friends. And the rest of Sunday was just hang time.

August 28
There was a pond party at my friends house today. It was just a gathering for church people. My friend in Vermont has a nice pond to swim in. But we were the first ones to show up - and we were really late. Then only a few people showed up after us. But that worked out because it was so hot and humid and the family didn't have air conditioning. But it was a lot of fun. They had a big raft that Me and her and another friend went on in search for turtles. We only saw their heads poking out of the water. However, we saw a water snake while we were on the raft, that was really cool.

I did my first AudBlog post this morning. Except I forgot how to finish it, so you guys ended up getting a behind-the-scenes bonus. My mom thinks it's entertaining, though.

I got a chain letter in the mail from a friend yesterday. The letter said that it started in 1996 and nobody has broken the chain (yeah, right). It also said that if it wasn't broken by this spring, it would end up in the Guinness Book of World Records. Hmm, if only it had a category for the longest chain letter. And it said you couldn't send it by email because the post office is keeping track of it - which is not true. My mom doesn't believe in chain-mail, and she looked up the "World Record For Children" online. Here's the link that talks about it (scroll down a little on that page).

We also went to the sweet shop. I got a gummy hot dog, a gummy tongue, and pop rocks. The pop rocks were really loud. Then we got ice cream at an ice cream shop. They have the best homemade waffle cones there. And I got my usual cookie dough ice cream - yum.

I hiked my 8th 4,000 footer today. It was Mt. Carrigain. The only hard part was that I was dead dehydrated. I drank a lot of water on the trail too. The views could have been better - it was a little hazy at the top. But the summit was really cool. First of all, we had it to ourselves, second of all, it was a platform that you could climb up. And again, we are going to get our treats tomorrow.

We (Megan and me) went to bed really early last night - 10:00 pm. But we got up around 7:30, so it paid off. And before Megan went home, I did her hair. I did sort of a messy knot in the back, and two small French braids in the front. It looked kind of strange, but she wore it anyway. And I was dropped off for a little bit at her house while my mom ran errands. So we each lived at each others house for part of the day.

Tuesday, August 24, 2004

I picked up a friend at her house this morning to go to the White Mountains. It was just my brothers, me, my mom and Megan (my friend). We didn't go hiking, but we went to the Flume Gorge, which was really cool. It was kind of like the Grand Canyon, except a jillion times smaller, and not as dry. Actually it was very wet. All of the rocks on the wall were wet. It was really pretty. Then we took the Tramway up to Cannon Mt., because the view was so foggy when we hiked up it last week. But today was awesome. Hardly a cloud in the sky. Then we went to Lost River, except they actually found it. But that was so much fun. There were little caves that you could go through, and there was one that was called The Lemon Squeezer. That was difficult to get through, especially because I am bigger (not fat) than the other little kids that were going through. Megan had no problem because she is tiny. There was this one part that you had to lie flat on your stomach to get through. And now Megan is sleeping over!

We went to church again to help clean up and take down the decorations. After that I got a cell phone! I had been wanting one for a long time, and me and my dad had a deal that if I kept up my blog for a month, I would get one. I got a cool straight phone, and I got an orange plate to put on it.

August 22
There was a wedding at church today. The bride had made her wedding dress, and it looked really good. My friend (who is my age but really short) was the flower girl. The reception was outside, and there was some dancing inside. The dancing was all pretty much married couples, and the dancing was pretty embarrassing looking. Go figure, they each had a glass of wine. I didn't dance at all, me and my friend just watched.

Saturday, August 21, 2004

We got our after-hiking treats today. I got gummy Band-aids, gummy mini pizza, and ice cream. I didn't eat it all at once, just to let you know. But nothing else really happened. And we are missing out on the Olympics because we don't have cable or satellite. But I saw some at a friend's house. I saw the bar gymnastics and swimming races. It would be neat to compete in the Olympics, but I don't really do sports. Just hiking, and dance. And swimming and tennis in the summer.

Friday, August 20, 2004

I hiked my 7th 4,000 footer today! I was Mt. Cannon. It wasn't that hard, and it was actually harder coming down because it was really wet and really steep and rocky. And it was raining on the way up, and when we got to the top, it was just white fog. That's it. But it was a really cool hike. And also on the way down, it became really sunny, so we were all kicking ourselves in the butts. We are going to get our sweets and junk food tomorrow because we didn't feel like going to a store today.

Thursday, August 19, 2004

I had my last tennis lesson today - sniffle. And I got my hair cut. I did some laundry and some school, and nothing else really happened. A neighbor (a boy who likes to play with Stephen and Sam) came up to play for a little while. And again, nothing else really happened.

Wednesday, August 18, 2004

We went on a 5 mile walk to a candy shop. It was a really nice walk through really cool woods. There was jillions of trails on this HUMONGUS piece of land. And the candy was awesome. They had cute little gummy burgers and hot dogs and pizzas. I got a burger, some chocolate Band-aids, and ice cream.

August 17
So, I woke up on the floor, which was more comfortable than the bean-bag. I had to go to tennis, so my mom picked me up. Then I was invited to spend more time there after tennis. We walked to a Subway and ate lunch there, and played outside a lot. Then when we got inside, There sisters, who had just gotten back from Maine, started cleaning their rooms. One of them wanted to get rid of her dresser, so she started dumping clothes into Megan's (my friend) room. All of the clothes that didn't fit her, I got to keep. I'm taller than Megan, so that is one of the times I was thankful for our huge size difference so we wouldn't fight over clothes. I got some jeans, a skirt and tons of shirts.

August 16
A neighborhood friend came over to play for awhile while her parents were at work. She was a lot of fun. Then I was invited over for a sleepover at another friends house. She has a younger sister and two older sisters that were in Maine for a few days. So It was just me and my two friends. We slept on their bean-bag chairs - which wasn't too comfortable.

Sunday, August 15, 2004

We went to church this morning. I played with my friend Olivia a lot afterwards. After that we went to an open house at my new neighbors. They had an open house to meet their neighbors. A neighborhood friend was their whom we haven't seen in a while. She is my brothers age, but acts like my age, so I like to play with her too. After the open house, we went down to her house to see her new chickens. They have 4 roosters and 6 hens. She got them in June when they were little chicks, so they were part way grown, but haven't started laying eggs yet. She also got 3 ducks, but we didn't see them.

Saturday, August 14, 2004

We watched a Pee-wee's Playhouse video for our Saturday morning TV watching. We have 8 videos with 2 episodes each. It's a weird show. And in the afternoon we went to a historical society that's in town. It was based on the 1800's. They had a hay ride, oxen, a school house, a few barns, and a meeting room all on this nice plot of land. They also had an old community store that had penny candy that you could buy. And in one of the barns, they were making homeade peach ice cream, which was really good, and they had apples with a machine that peels, core and slices apples.

Friday, August 13, 2004

We went to the dentist this morning. No cavities - yay! They cleaned my braces really well, so they feel smooth and shiny. We went to this Italian candy shop/deli afterwards. They had really good sorbetta and tons of cute candy. They had little gummy hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries, and pizza. I got the hot dog. They also had chocolate Band- aids. They are for life's boo-boos.

Thursday, August 12, 2004

We picked up my brothers from camp today. Me and my mom did some clothes shopping before hand. I got some shirts and a pair of pants. Sam kept on clinging on to Mom when we got there. Then we ate out at this Tex-Mex restaurant. The food was pretty good. My mom spent a lot of today cleaning my brothers' room. I wish I could go away for a few days and come home to a clean room!

Wednesday, August 11, 2004

I woke up at 4:30 in the morning from a thunder storm. It lasted until 6:30 - or at least that's when I fell back asleep. I woke back up around 9:00. I cleaned my room a bit, did laundry and school reading. Then my mom and I went to this cute (but small) bead shop that just opened in town. They had jillions of really nice beads, wire, clasps and stuff to make jewelry. I bought a ton of beads, some wire, and earring stuff. I made 2 pairs of dangle earrings.

Tuesday, August 10, 2004

Before tennis this morning, I filed papers for my dad! I like to file papers. It's fun. I did okay at tennis. We learned the over-head serve. I always hit mine too hard. Me and my mom did a little errands and a little cleaning. Now my mother is making dinner. I am not exactly sure what it is though.

Monday, August 09, 2004

I had my birthday party today! I had 3 people over - my mom limited it to 3. I wanted to invite more though. We had a picnic lunch, went to a museum of science which had a lot of cool stuff. They had a fog machine, and sound experiments and a ton of other stuff. Then we went to a place where they would take in hurt birds and take care of them because they couldn't live by themselves in the wild. They had Snowy Owls, Bald Eagles, Ravens, and a lot of other birds. They had the cutest owl that had wing damage. It was about 6 inches tall and 3 inches wide, and their wingspan was 17 inches. They were so cute and fluffy. There was another one that had a missing eye. Then we went to a Japanese restaurant. We sat at the Hibachi table. It was yummy.

Sunday, August 08, 2004

We didn't go to church today because we had to drop my brothers off at camp. Now I have 5 days without them. I did a little shopping with my mom, and came home. It was going to be a complete "girls night" because my dad was going to do an overnight hiking trip, but he finished to early. Me and my mom are still going to watch a chick flick. So now I'm going to see what it'll be like to be an only child!

Saturday, August 07, 2004

I slept in really late this morning. And then we went to a parade. I love the parade because the people chuck candy at you. Then we went to the fair that was in town. I went on 2 rides. And I ate fried dough, and a snow cone. After that, me and some of my friends went to an annual out door party at a friend's house. They had really good strawberry ice cream and brownies. There was also a bon fire. It was a lot of fun.

Friday, August 06, 2004

I had a make-up tennis day this morning. I am also going to a bridal shower tonight. It's the mother/daughter deal. A couple of my friends are going with their moms too. And tomorrow my brothers are in a parade. And my mom made homemade pizza which smells yummy yummy!

Thursday, August 05, 2004

We had tennis this morning. I did alright. It rained a little bit almost right after tennis was over. We didn't do much else. I cleaned my room a bit, we went bike riding, and ate dinner. That's about it.

Wednesday, August 04, 2004

We rode our bikes to the boat launch to go swimming. The water felt like bath water. Although my dad, having grown up in Georgia, said it was freezing and that we didn't know any better. And we rode our bikes back. My mom made turkey burgers and homeade whole wheat buns. The buns are a lot better that the white bread junk. They make you feel healthy.

Tuesday, August 03, 2004

We went to tennis today. I ducked when the ball came at me instead of hitting it. Then we went out for ice cream. I got a waffle cone. They were homeade at the ice cream place. I always get cookie dough ice cream. Then a friend invited me to go to the beach with her. There was a few other friends invited too. We had a cook out thing there, and s'mores! We went swimming a lot in the dark. My mom picked me up around 8:00 pm. It was a lot of fun.

Monday, August 02, 2004

We hiked up North and South Twin today. I was a little dehydrated, so that made it a little hard for me. But otherwise it was a nice hike. The North Twin summit was just a little trail junction, but there was another look-out place. South Twin had a really nice view. On our way down, there was a river that we played in and got all wet. My feet got a lot of blisters. Ow - the pain. And our "freedom night" is moved to tomorrow night because we got home so late and we were so tired. So we'll watch movies tomorrow night.

Sunday, August 01, 2004

We went to church, as usual. We got an invitation to go to a bridal shower. It is going to be a mother/daughter thing. A young woman in our church is getting married, and the wedding is in a few weeks. I have never been to a bridal shower before, so this will probably be an experience. We played outside a lot once we got home from church, It is really hot and humid. So we got all sticky.
